Meera Majithia

Meera is an extremely successful wedding planner specialising in Indian weddings. Based in Leicester in the UK, she both plans and co-ordinates beautiful dream weddings for couples that take place all over the world.

When she came to me to discuss her idea for a book, we talked about how it was to fit in with plans to grow her business. Much as she loves, and wants to continue, working with couples to physically plan their weddings, she knew that if she was to leverage her time and scale her impact, she had to look at how she could adapt her skills to serve clients online as well as offline. Her idea was to use her expertise to help couples plan their own weddings, something that naturally translates beautifully into a book. Alongside the book were plans to start a membership, so that she could support her brides and grooms throughout their planning journey from engagement and beyond.

As I walked her through my method of planning and outlining, she was able to easily structure the book (honestly, when I saw her detailed plan I nearly cried, such a thing of beauty it was!) and draw on content that she was already really familiar with through her blogs and social profiles. Together we worked on a neat little narrative twist (you’ll have to read the book to discover what it is!) to make sure the book feels like a really fresh, enjoyable and massively implementable read. The goal above all will be to feed delighted readers into her membership where she can continue to sprinkle her wedding wisdom on their own special day.

The specifics of her membership are where the book really becomes a magic wand. Many memberships open once or twice a year, and have a big launch push to get new members. With a wedding planning membership however, brides don’t have time to wait until that cart open day! He’s popped the question, she’s popped the champagne corks and she wants to start planning NOW! So the model for a wedding planning membership is most likely to be evergreen ... which requires ‘always on’ marketing to make sure a bride can find it when she needs it. And this is just one way that a book becomes the perfect top-of-funnel strategy to be driving people into your offerings. It isn’t *just* about book sales, or raising Meera’s profile as THE go-to wedding planning expert, but it is actively working hard as a client-attraction marketing tool.

Meera’s book came out in December 2020, so the whole process took less than 9 months to plan, write and publish. Don’t you just love a happy ending?

“I can honestly say that signing up with Jessica has been one of the best investments that I’ve made. Not only did she help me plan out a clear book structure, which has made the writing process seem far less scarier than I imagined, but in all honesty she seems to have unexpectedly doubled up as my business coach! From our very first call it was clear that Jessica was not only interested in helping me write my book, but she wanted to understand why I was writing it and how it was going to help me and my business in the long run. Since working with her and undergoing some book brainstorming sessions, I’ve even mapped out a whole new business strategy! Her constant encouragement and assistance has been invaluable. I would highly recommend her to anyone who is thinking of writing a book. My book released in December and I have had the best two weeks of sales in my business EVER.

Thank you, Jessica, for giving me the encouragement I needed to keep going with it. This has been one of the best things that I have done for my business, and I hope it will be the same for others."
